Welcome

So Why ‘bizkut’?
In 2009, while creating a Facebook Page, Yan, our founder, was asked to choose a name. As he sat there, enjoying his favorite Marie biscuits with a cup of tea, inspiration struck. He thought, "Why not name it after this snack?" In Malay, biscuits are called "biskut," and to give it a unique twist, he swapped the "s" for a "z," and "bizkut" was born. Over time, the name grew with our customers, becoming part of our identity. We considered changing it a few years back, but we now feel the name "bizkut" carries an even deeper, humble origin that resonates with our long journey. It reflects our humble beginnings, upholds the unique Malay identity and most importantly, it shows that even something as simple as a biscuit can symbolize the power to inspire others, to create positive change. So here we are, proudly .
The Idea
Back in 2008, cycling apparel was a rare and costly commodity in Singapore. Our founder, Yan, then a passionate 18-year-old cyclist, faced a common problem: butt pain while riding. Inspired by a postman with a makeshift tiny pillow on his bike saddle, Yan saw a widespread need for affordable tights with padding. This observation sparked the birth of bizkut, aiming to provide accessible cycling gear for everyone.
The Humble Beginnings
bizkut's journey began in the confines of his HDB flat in Bedok, where he embarked on a quest to create value for money padded cycling tights. By selling his personal items and refurbishing used bicycles, he funded his early prototypes; sewing his own pillow foams onto running tights to create a functional cycling wear. His simple yet innovative solution quickly gained traction within the local cycling community.
The Challenges
The path was fraught with obstacles. One of them was in 2010. After reaching out to potential manufacturers across Asia, Yan was scammed by a supplier in Pakistan, losing all his invested funds to poorly manufactured products. Undeterred, he restarted refurbishing bikes again to fund bizkut. At the same time, he persevered in his quest for reliable manufacturing. He eventually started partnering with a few trusted manufacturers in China who later on became leading manufacturers for top cycling apparel brands.
Our Growth
Today, bizkut is more than just a brand; together with Su; bizkut is a dedicated team of five, not including our own bizkut riding team.
Also, with the continuous support of thousands of cyclists across Singapore and beyond, we have refined our cycling gears to meet the needs of every rider. We are ever indebtedly grateful for the support given to us by the community to be where we are today.
From just a simple HDB block in Bedok to a blog shop and then to becoming a staple in the Singapore cycling community, bizkut has grown significantly over the years.
You can still check out the old bizkut site: Old 2010 Site - don't judge eh!
Our Dream and Impact
Our dream has always been to make cycling inclusive and accessible.
We are just regular people that love cycling. We are friendly. We are fun. We are the plus sized people. We have tummies and a dad bod. We are the foldies, mini velos, the tourers, city bikers, the bmxs, the mtbs, the road cyclists and many more.
Some of us cycle to keep fit and lose weight. Some of us cycle to work. Some cycle to makan. Some of us cycle to spend time with friends. Some of us cycle to race and challenge ourselves. Some of us cycle as a form of release.
Most importantly, we ALL love cycling.
All in all, we believe and want to inspire the community that cycling is truly for ALL; regardless of race, language, religion, age, body type, able or disabled. Whatever the weather.
